Bates Motel (1987)

Today marks the anniversary of the ill-advised Bates Motel television pilot, first broadcast on July 5, 1987. As a big fan of Psycho, Psycho II, and Psycho III, I was excited to see the next chapter of Norman Bates. Unfortunately, this was a dud right out of the gate. Nonetheless, as a completist, here are a few of the locations.

First up is courthouse square at Universal Studios, used in many films including Psycho II.

The asylum was shot at Alverno Heights Academy at 200 North Michillinda Avenue in Sierra Madre, California.

The bank was shot at 6001 Topanga Canyon Boulevard in Woodland Hills, California.

The fast food restaurant was at 21420 Roscoe Boulevard in Canoga Park, California.

Still located across the street is the Dependable dealership at 21415 Roscoe Boulevard.

And of course the Bates Motel and house at Universal Studios in Los Angeles.
