Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil (1997)

During a recent trip to Savannah, Georgia, to do locations for Halloween Ends, I figured I should try to hit up some of the town’s most famous locations for Midnight In The Garden Of Good And Evil.

I didn’t have much time for these, so for nearly all these locations, I crammed in to about 90 minutes at dusk on my final night there!

First up is also a “real” location, the grave of John Mercer. He is buried in The Bonaventure Cemetery at 330 Bonaventure Road in Thunderbolt, Georgia.

As the author arrives in town, they drive by Chippewa Square in Savannah, now better known as Forrest Gump Park.

Here he walks towards the fountain in Forsyth Park at 1 W Gaston Street in Savannah.

Here we get our first look at the Mercer-Williams house, located at 429 Bull Street, about a block north of of Forsyth Park.

He stays at 2 E Taylor Street.

The attorney’s office (also a “real” location) is at 447 Bull Street - right between the Mercer-Williams house and the park.

Here we are back in Forsyth Park.

And back to the Mercer-Williams hosue.

On the way to the party, the walk by this house at 117 E Jones Street.

The party house is right next door at 115 East Jones Street.

The Mercer-Williams house…

The attorney office…

The Lady Chablis lives at 418 East Liberty in Savannah.

Here she is crossing Liberty and Habersham Streets.

The doctor’s office is just down the street at 311 Habersham Street, however, in the movie she is walking down the alley of Liberty Lane.

Back to Lady Chablis’ house.

There is a scene in the the back parking lot for the attorney’s office, but appears to be built up, so this shot is the best I could get.

Clary’s Cafe was closed during my visit, but is located at 404 Abercorn Street.

The flower shop was located at 6 East State Street.

Right down the street is the courthouse at 125 Bull Street. Obviously I couldn’t get very good shots as it is undergoing significant renovation.

Also under renovation is the Married Women’s Card Club, located at 126 East Gaston Street.

This is at Wright Square, the church in the background at 120 Bull Street.

Churchills was located at 9 Drayton Street - sorry for the poor shots here!

This playground was originally at Crawford Square.

Back to the courthouse…

And back to the flower shop….

This gazebo is at Whitfield Square.

Here they walk to the park in front of the house at 218 West Jones Street.

The final scene was shot at Forsyth Park.
