The Fog (1980)

Hot off the success of Halloween, John Carpenter’s follow up would be a ghost story in The Fog. I’ve been to several locations throughout the years and today marks the anniversary of it’s release on February 8, 1980.

Antonio Bay is made up of a few towns in California. First up is the church, shot at 25 East Laurel Avenue in Sierra Madre, California. We’ll hit this one up again later.

As many times as I’ve driven past this location, I haven’t stopped in even once! This is the Laurel Canyon Country Store at 2108 Laurel Canyon Boulevard in Los Angeles.

This was shot at Drakes Beach at Point Reyes National Seashore, California.

Stevie Wayne’s house is located at 12830 Sir Francis Drake Boulevard in Inverness, California.

I’m pretty sure this dock was originally in Bodega Bay, but someone let me know if otherwise.

The statue unveiling took place at 10005 Highway One in Olema, California.

During my visit, the lighthouse was still being worked on and inaccessible. Plus, as you can see in the pictures it was….foggy. :) It is located on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard in Point Reyes.

The driveway to the church is at 123835 Sir Francis Drake Boulevard in Inverness, California, nearly right across the street from Stevie Wayne’s house.

However, the church itself is hundreds of miles away in Sierra Madre Boulevard. Movie magic!

There has been some renovation and landscaping since filming.

The church was also used in Return of the Living Dead Part II.

Many of the town scenes were shot on Shoreline Highway in Point Reyes Station, California.

Back to the statue unveiling…

“Mrs. Kobritz….”

From the opposite view, looking toward 11200 Shoreline Highway in Point Reyes Station, California.

And finally back to the church in Sierra Madre.

I’ve been fortunate to meet many of the cast and crew of the film.
