Invasion Of the Body Snatchers (1956)

Today marks the 65th anniversary of the iconic film, Invasion of the Body Snatchers. Originally released on February 5, 1956, the film continues to resonate with fans and has spawned many remakes and sequels.

The police station was shot at the outside of the studio at the time, located at 4401 Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles. This spot was also used in Wes Craven’s New Nightmare.

The Santa Mira train station was actually the Chatsworth station but was razed in 1962, however I did find this picture on the internet.

Wilma’s house is one of the few homes to still exist and is located at 1635 Rancho Avenue in Glendale, California.

Becky’s house was located at 1927 Rodney Drive, but has since been demolished.

The actual building from the scene is gone, but you can still see the building across the street at 25 South Baldwin Avenue in Sierra Madre, California.

The gas station was at the corner of North Virgil Avenue and Lexington Avenue, but is no longer there.

The alley is behind the building at 1181 North Virgil Avenue.

The next house is at 1829 North Commonwealth Avenue; then the car turns the corner onto Russell Avenue. At the time, the house was completely obscured by shrubbery.

The hot dog stand was located at 4300 Riverside Drive in Burbank, California. Since these pictures, it has been renovated once again.

This alley is behind 1710 North Vermont Avenue in Los Angeles.

Many of the scenes take place at Kersting Court in Sierra Madre, California. This spot has been used in countless films including Halloween II, Halloween III, Return of the Living Dead Part 2, Silent Night Deadly Night Part 2, and Psycho III, just to name a few!

The gas station was located around 2690 North Beachwood Drive in Los Angeles.

This publicity shot was used for much of the promotion and posters. This is the same area but looking from around 2700 Westshire Drive.

They run up the Westshire/Pelham Stairs. The bottom of the steps are next to 2748 Westshire Drive.

The top of the steps come out next to 2823 Pelham Place.

The Bronson Caves have been used in many films and is always a good visit. It is located at 3200 Canyon Drive in Los Angeles.

I’m amazed these trees are still here and recognizable! This is around 6741 Mulholland Drive in Los Angeles.

He runs down the drive and across the bridge to Lakeridge Place.
