Lawnmower Man (1992)

The early 90’s were not a good time for the genre. The Lawnmower Man is no exception and is so far removed from Stephen King’s original work, he had his name removed. I had not seen the movie in decades, but thought I’d give it a rewatch and visit a few locations.

First up is the Church of The Angels at 1100 Avenue 64 in Pasadena, California. This location has been used in many films, most notably Heathers.

This is around the back of the church and everything looks mostly the same!

The steps are still there, but there is no shed up there.

The gas station is now a house at 507 Entrada Drive in Santa Monica. I haven’t visited this in person as the hedges make it impossible to see much, so some old Google Streetviews here.

The main house is located at 1000 Buena Vista Street in South Pasadena, California. This is just down the street from Arnie’s house in Christine as well as some Halloween locations.

The interior of the church was shot at Immanuel Presbyterian Church at 3300 Wilshire Boulevard, some online photos for reference below.

Back to the church….

This is the infamous intersection at Mission Street and Meridian Avenue in South Pasadena. This area is best known for the scene where Michael Myers follows the girls as they stop by the hardware store in Halloween.

Dolly’s Diner is long gone, but was located at 24300 San Fernando Road in Newhall, California.

Also long gone is the Ambassador Hotel off Wilshire….

The house next door at 1014 Buena Vista Street.

This is looking down Buena Vista Street around Arnie’s house towards the main houses.

Back to the main house…

Back to the church…

And back to Buena Vista Street, now looking towards Arnie’s house….

The institute was shot at 1101 Pepper Tree Lane in Simi Vallely. This is private property, so showing the photo I found below for reference.
