Phantasm (1979)

Today marks the anniversary of PHANTASM, released in the U.S. on March 28, 1979. Here are a few of the locations I have visited over the years.

A lot of the film takes place at the mortuary. The exterior used is the Dunsmuir House, located at 2960 Peralta Oaks Court in Oakland, California.

The house is also known for its appearance in Burnt Offerings and A View To A Kill.

The cemetery gates were shot at the entrance to the Cobb Estate, near the corner of East Loma Alta Drive and Lake Avenue in Altadena, California.

The fortune teller’s house is at 22840 Calvert Street in Woodland Hills, California. (I believe my friend Rayen took these pictures for me at the time.)

The brothers’ house was at 1232 Corsica Drive in Los Angeles. It has since been demolished since my visit.

The hanging tree is is near the corner of Agoura Road in Kanan Road in Agoura Hills, California. Surprisingly, this area has not been built over yet.

A delete scene here that shows up as a flashback in a future sequel, this was shot on Stansbury Avenue in Sherman Oaks, California.
