Today marks the anniversary for the release of Boogie Nights - one of the best film to come out of the 90’s. Most of these locations I visited over 15 years ago, but just now making page for it.
The film and title card opens on the Reseda theater at 18447 Sherman Way in Reseda.
Dirk’s house is at 3503 W 187th Street in Torrance.
Dirk’s new house is at 4214 Lobos Road in Woodland Hills. (It has been redone since these pictures were taken.)
The often-used El Royale Motel at 11117 Ventura Boulevard in Studio City.
If you go to my original blog, you can read of how I found the drug dealer house. At the time, no one had found it. The house number seen in the movie is actually fabricated, which happens less often than you think, but it did throw me off. So, I got out my bluray copy of the movie and as the characters run away, I was able to read a cross street sign on a corner and was able to backtrack the location. It was located at 16801 Encino Hills Drive, but has since been torn down and replaced.
This pedestrian bridge across the LA River is adjacent to Colfax Avenue in Studio City, just north of the intersection at Ventura Boulevard.
The donut shop is at 18231 Sherman Way in Reseda.
And finally Jack Horner’s house. At the time, I was able to track it down to 19515 East Cameron Avenue in Covina. I usually have good luck at locations and this day was no different. I decided see if we could check out the house and the owner at the time was gracious enough to say yes!
Pretty surreal to be in the living room!
But what I really wanted to see was the pool, as so many key scenes were shot there.
The great scene with William H. Macy.
Since my visit, the house has changed owners and it has been drastically re-landscaped and the exterior has been repainted.
