Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982)

Despite this Myers-less entry in the series, it still holds a special place in my heart.   While much of the film is shot in Northern California, they did a few scenes in Southern California.   For a more complete list of locations, click the map link.

The opening scene shows Harry Grimbridge running under this I-5 overpass o San Fernando Road in Sylmar, California.

Not too far way is the gas station, located at 22124 Sierra Highway.

UPDATE: Thanks the wonders of Mr. H at OHMB, the hospital has been found.  Well... sort of.   The actual hospital is gone, but the building seen in the background is still there <see update below> and looks mostly the same except for the accordion-like sidewalk roof.   It is located at the corner of Terra Bella Street and Eldridge Avenue in Sylmar.  This is on the same block as the hospital used in Terminator 2 and Bad Dreams.

UPDATE January 2018: Since the original article, the building above has been torn down. :(

Carpenter favorite, Kersting Court in Sierra Madre, makes a brief appearance.  This location has appeared in numerous films including Halloween II, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Silent Night Deadly Night Part 2, Return of the Living Dead Part II, and Psycho III.

Just up the street is the Bucaneer Bar, which was originally in a different spot, but was relocated to 70 West Sierra Madre Boulevard.

This random alley shot is behind where Vera’s house was originally located in Friday the 13th Part 3 at 24318 Walnut Street in Santa Clarita.

The trick or treating montage shows kids in various cities buying masks and going door to door.  Of course, all of these locations were in the Los Angeles area.  I had been to a few before, but thanks to Mr. H at OHMB, he was able to find the Dayton, Phoenix, LA, NY and Seattle locations, what a pro!   Below is a quick video I did of the filming locations for this scene:

First up is Dayton, Ohio; located at 4431 Ben Avenue in Los Angeles.

Next is New York, New York, located at 22700 Lyons Avenue in Santa Clarita, California.  I was finally able to get into this location!  I had tried once before and they were closed, but the occupant was gracious enough to let me take a few pics. Since filming, they have added several walls for offices, so I couldn't line up all the shots exactly, but you can still identify the front and corner windows pretty easily.

I always got a kick out of seeing my hometown of Omaha appearing in the film.  Of course, this location is pretty far from Omaha and is located at 159 & 161 Larchmont Boulevard in Los Angeles.

In 2013, I was able to track down the "Baton Rouge" corner, not too far from "Omaha", located at Plymouth Boulevard and West 1st Street in Los Angeles.  This is a combination of a couple different visits to this location.

My panoramic shot of the corner.

Next up is "Los Angeles" which... is in Los Angeles!  Mr. H was able to locate this in the Montecito Heights area.  The easiest way to find it is to go to 2810 North Thomas Street.  The view might not be for long, during my visit a construction fence was put up so new housing is likely going in there soon.

Next is "Seattle, Washington" which Mr. H located not too far from "New York" at the corner of Vista Ridge Drive and Wiley Canyon Road in Santa Clarita, California.

And finally we end on "Phoenix, Arizona" which is also on North Thomas Street looking up at the intersection of Two Tree Avenue.  With the new housing and fencing, it was difficult to recreate the exact shot, but is still worth the visit.

Throughout my travels, I have gone to some horror movie conventions and specifically the Halloween ones.  Below are some of the cast I have met over the years
