Once Upon A Time In Hollywood (2019)

Today marks the anniversary for the wide release of Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon A Time In Hollywood. I’ll be honest, I didn’t care for this when I saw it in the theatre. A repeat viewing has made me like it a bit better; perhaps I was taken too off guard with what he was trying to do during my initial viewing. Nonetheless, Here are a few locations I have visited so far…

We’ll start with a “real” location, the entrance to Cielo Drive in the Benedict Canyon area of Los Angeles. The house was located at 10050 Cielo Drive, but was demolished years ago.

Rick Dalton’s house is located at 10969 Alta View Drive in Studio City, California.

I had to include these shots of course….

Sharon’ Tate’s house was next door at 10974 Alta View Drive.

This was shot at the corner of Greenbriar Drive and Corbin Avenue in Tarzana.

These driving shots were done on Forest Lawn Drive in Burbank, California.

This is near the corner of Ivar Avenue and Yucca Street.

He picks her up at 10726 Burbank Boulevard.

The freeway entrance is off Hollywood Boulevard near North Van Ness Avenue.

The acid cigarette flashback was at the corner of Riverside Drive and Forman Avenue in Toluca Lake.

While watching the movie in the theatre, I recognized this spot right away. What is supposed to be a studio is actually a school. I have been to this several times as it played Rydell High School in Grease 2.

The campus is located at 15711 Pioneer Boulevard in Norwalk, California.

UPDATE: I made a quick return visit for a few more shots:

Parts of the western shows were shot at Universal Studios. I have been through here a few times, so these shots won’t be screen-matched, but just what I could find in my catalog.

UPDATE: On my recent trip to Universal Studios, I was able to go inside the saloon!

The Bounty Law scenes were shot at the Melody Ranch. Right now, all of the western facades are covered up by more modern facades. One day I’ll get the proper shots when they are gone!

The filming location for the Spahn Ranch is not too far from the real location. They instead used Corriganville Park at 7001 Smith Road in Simi Valley, California.

Great sets and attention to detail, this was probably the best scene in the movie.

Sharon picks up a hitchhiker near 10401 Wilshire Boulevard.

Sharon parks at 972 Gayley Avenue in Los Angeles.

She walks first by the Westwood Theatre….

…and then to the Bruin Theatre at 948 Broxton Avenue.

The grocery store is located at 2925 Division Street in Los Angeles.

I had visited Chili John’s for the I Am The Night series; it is located at 2018 West Burbank Boulevard in Burbank, California.

The Cinerama Dome Theatre is located at 630 Sunset Boulevard.

Paramount Studios stood in for Columbia Studios here.

The Pantages Theatre, located at 6233 Hollywood Boulevard.

The El Coyote at 7312 Beverly Boulevard in Los Angeles.

Casa Vega is located at 13301 Ventura Boulevard in Sherman Oaks.

In a deleted scene, this was used as a factory and is located at 635 Mateo Street in Los Angeles.

Bruce Dern as George Spahn

Brad Pitt as Cliff Booth

Martin Kove as Bounty Law Sheriff

Last year I visited Sharon Tate’s grave.
