Ruthless People (1986)

Today is the anniversary for one of my favorite comedies, Ruthless People, released June 27, 1986. Rewatching the film, it still holds up and makes me laugh. I’ve visited several locations over the years, decades really, check them out below.

The Stone’s house is at 10690 Somma Way in Los Angeles, California.

The Kessler’s live at 2449 Glencoe Avenue in Venice, California.

The alley behind the house is actually featured more prominently than the front.

Pretty sure this is the original fence based on its condition….

The police watch from this roof of 5500 Hollywood Boulevard.

The spot for the hot dog stand was actually at 8555 Beverly Boulevard, but I had this shot from the other side of the Beverly Center from back in 1988 where you can see the original architecture and color scheme.

The money exchange occurs at the Bank of America Plaza at 333 South Hope Street in Downtown Los Angeles.

This area was also used in the final scenes of Night of the Comet.

“This could very well be the stupidest person on the face of the earth.”

The ending takes place at the Santa Monica Pier. This first batch of pictures was during a visit in 1988. At the time, you can see some of the original locations that no longer exist today.

Below are more recent pictures of the pier with the dramatic changes over the years.
