Silent Night Deadly Night Part 5 The Toy Maker

Silent Night Deadly Night Part 5: The Toy Maker (1991)

A few years ago, I decided to track down the locations for the infamous 'garbage day' scene in Silent Night, Deadly Night Part 2. As a completest, of course, I had to do the rest of the series which I wasn't too familiar with at the time, but became a good set-jetting journey.  Here we have the fifth entry in the series, The Toy Maker. This one features Mickey Rooney, who vocally protested the first film, so who knows why (besides a paycheck) he showed up here.

We start the film at the corner of "Holly Lane and Jerome Avenue" but is actually the corner of North Craig Avenue and Galbreth Road in Pasadena, California.

This leads up to the main house in the film. I had some trouble figuring out this one until I came across a copy of a call sheet,  If all locations were this easy.  It is located at 1282 North Craig Avenue in Pasadena.

Instead of going in my usual movie chronological order, I am going to get all the shots of the house and this street out of the way here.

The...uhhh... roller skates scene....

Next up is the motel.  Of course, I went to the actual door used in the movie as well.  This is located at 5450 Sepulveda Boulevard in Sherman Oaks.

The mall used in the film has had a few renovations since filming but the structure is the same.  This is located at 12930 Ventura Boulevard in Studio City.

The address given in the dialogue where the mother works is fictitious, but in actuality was the Live Video building at the time.  It is located at 15400 Sherman Way in Sherman Oaks.

And finally we go to the toy store, which I had a heck of a time finding. I nearly gave up until I remembered one of my golden rules: all roads lead to Burbank.  (That rule helped me finally track down a missing location in the original Halloween!)  Sure enough, I found it just a couple miles from my usual hotel. This is located at 6918 San Fernando Road in the Glendale/Burbank area.

You can visit Mickey Rooney's memorial at the Hollywood Forever cemetery:
