I caught White Bird In A Blizzard at Sundance in 2014, and while it isn't my favorite Gregg Araki film, which will always be Mysterious Skin, it was a fun period film with a great soundtrack.
There are two main houses for Shailene Woodley and Shiloh Fernandez. When I got to the street I was a bit confused at first, but quickly figured out that it is only one house. Sometimes the house is shot as is, sometimes it is shot in reverse. Here is the house in real life, located at 5138 Beeman Avenue in Valley Village.
Here is the house “across the street” but actually the same house shot in reverse.
Sometimes you can get a glimpse of the actual house across the street.
The college was shot at California State University located at 18111 Nordhoff Street in Northridge and is best known as Starfleet Academy in Star Trek (2009).
The church scenes were shot at the Little Brown Church at 4418 Coldwater Canyon Avenue in Studio City, California.
BT Industrial Supply is located at 13008 Sherman Way in North Hollywood.
The airport scenes were shot at the old Ontario Airport, used in many productions including Saving Mr. Banks and Battle of the Sexes.
I was lucky enough to attend the premiere at the Sundance Film Festival.
