Death Spa (1988)

Although this is a 1988 film premiering at the Cannes Film Festival that year, it didn’t hit video until two years later, October 24, 1990. For some reason, that is the date I had in my notes for the premiere, so that’s why you’re getting it today in honor of its 35th anniversary! Below are a few of locations used in the film.

The film opens on a wide shot, showing the Marlboro man billboard and the Chateau Marmont on Sunset Boulevard. The camera pans to the Lytton Savings Buildings, which was demolished in 2021.

Also long gone is the Death Spa itself, located behind the Lytton Building at 8148 Sunset Boulevard.

Next up is David’s apartment at 6357 Longview Avenue in Los Angeles.

This scene was shot at the corner of 3rd & Vermont Streets in Los Angeles.

Here the car is approaching the Wiltern at…. where else, Wilshire and Western!

The mansion is located at 21940 Lamplighter Lane in Malibu. I haven’t been there myself, but found some shots online to share as reference.
